Passing Time
After returning from a meaningful trip to China in the summer, where I reunited with friends and family after five years, I became sentimental about the distance of memories and the temporality of time. Reminiscing and nostalgia predominantly occupied my mind, propelling me to work on a personal project that could convey those emotions and thoughts.
As the days grew shorter, I noticed the sun set further west each day, moving from its previous position in the northwest. And because I live in the center of Seattle, sunlight often bounces off various skyscrapers, dictating the intensity and angles of the interplay between shadow and light at any particular location.
Being attentive to how the sun's location continuously changes throughout the seasons is reflected in my attempt to catch these fleeting moments in my photographs. It took me several months to stop longing for the people and experiences I encountered in China. I believe all memories inevitably fade into the past, highlighting the importance of enjoying the present. These images document my search for a way to capture each of these moments in their individuality.
