Passing Time
After returning from a meaningful trip to China in the summer, I became sentimental about the temporality of time. As the days grew shorter, I noticed the sun set further west each day, moving from its previous position in the northwest. I also observed how sunlight bounced off various skyscrapers, dictating the intensity and angles of the interplay between shadow and light at any particular location. Paralleling my persistence in holding onto memories and slow acceptance of inevitable change, I became attentive to the sun's shifting position throughout the seasons, motivating me to capture these brief lighting stages. This series taught me how to use photography to explore the depths of my emotions, encouraging me to convey and embrace broader messages that offer hope and comfort. Though the past can be bittersweet, vivid yet impossible to hold onto again, I have learned to appreciate some aspects of its fleeting existence.
